Whys is trying to buy a car so stressful. Why can't it just be ridiculously easy. that way I can spend more money than I should on a great soundsystem and just sit in it and smile whenever I feel this way. blechk.

deadmau5 and wolfgang the pulitzer prize winning author:

Well I haven't (i use haven't 3 times in the next sentence so excuse me grammar kings) posted much of anything in quite some time. Not that I haven't been living life but I just haven't posted much on here. quite the contrary actually. Ive been super busy and tons of really cool stuff. In the last few weeks I have seen some great shows, almost seen even better ones and have bought tickets for even more. Sounds vague huh. I will take you on a little trip and let you know what Im thinking.

two weeks ago i had tickets to a-trak in nyc for that cmj fest. i missed my train and ended up just not going into the city. that was the night kanye came out with him and played a half hour set to the 5o0 people in the audience. se le vie.

First off I gotta tell you about Pretty Lights. This is a great dj who makes some amazing music to chill to. I had heard of him before and he played at camp bisco before lcd soundsystem but we didnt get there in time and i wasnt too dissapointed. A few weekends ago I was at a friends house haning out and the only thing she had on her computer was this dude pretty lights. I mean like literally nothing on her computer but like a hundred pretty light songs. For the next 7 hours that was all I listened to and it blew my mind. the guy does a great job mixing up beats and giving you a wide range of tempo and rhythm while still holding onto control and taking you wherever the wobble brings you. A cool thing that he does is also that he gives out all his music for free. Support him live or buy a t-shirt. This is an awesome thing that i believe in and something that I think keeps me buying concert tickets. Sure I may never buy an actual cd anymore but I do more than my fair share when I pay for concert tickets and schwag. check out pretty lights and download some stuff as he just came out with a new album last week (good timing for me to hear about him!) and his new years mix is a grade live collection.

Radio 1 Essential Mix.
Im not sure how many people ahve hard of radio1 essential mixes but i will try and give oyu a short synopsis. basically in the u.k. its a 2 hour commercial free block that is played from 3.00-5.00 am on Saturday morning (friday night) The worlds top djs play on it and can do whatever they want to the airways for their two hours. its been going on since 1993 and anybody great you can think of in the dj world has done it. fatboy slim, daft punk, tiesto, deadmau5, paulvan dyke, anybody you can think of. Well i have listened to a ton of them and they are great mixes (i may have wrote about a Loo & Placido essential mix that i listened to every night on my way home from work my seniore year of college (the time this blog was created) anyway i tell you all this because friday nights from 10-12pm you can listen live here and basically your hearing a dj set for the first time ever and its pretty cool. its something i learned on the most boring friday night of my life, which now that i say that aloud doesnt seem that bad actually. check it out though you wont be dissapointed.

Jack Beats has a great one and I heard Caspa did a great one a while back. Also Simian Mobile Disco did one that comes on my itunes quite often.

what else.what else.

Trance music. learned the differnece between trance and electronicor techno last weekend for my trip to Union College. (thats an insane place for anyone thats ever stopped by or had the opportunity to meet any partyers from their...they know how to get down...)

I used my mass glowstick collection on halloween to be a stick figure. I got lots of comments on it and was pretty impressed with how it came out but I wish I got a picture of it. that would be much cooler than just telling you what a cool stick figure i was. Luckily it was so cool it helped me keep my buddy out of trouble. quick story. he tried to steal 2 slices of pizza from these 2 girls. when he ran away one of the girls took him down. (yes you read that right) he ran away and a cop saw home running away, asked the girls what happened , then drove after my friend. withing 2 minutes there was 4 cars and 9 officers of the law encircling my friend. one of the most ridiculous things i have ever witnessed. when i told the officer what happened he told me he liked my costume then repeated the story to me so that we could both stand away from all the activity and think about why such a fiasco was going on. He told me to remind my friend of this tomorrow and make sure we laugh about it, but that hes still an idiot. 1.3/4 way true. im not sure if this story translates well to type but it was utterly hillarius to watch.

get that new bassnectar ish. wildstyle lp.
check out his all good performance again below. then check out the link under it for the wildstyle

I love to ride my bicycle.

I havent had a chance to sit down and just listen to great music in a while and it looks like that might be happening today. i love it.
the first song i cant stop listending to right now is crystal castles- empathy. I saw a bunch of pictures and reviews of their live show and its definetly intriquing so i checked it out. A female lead singer that goes wild and a drummer and beat maker in the back.

Ialso hear the new Kanye and Kay Z track that just just came out. Id post it put I am sure you can find it pretty easilly because its kanye west and he doesnt do anything quietly.

(but here it is anyway)

i sincerely miss posting on this thing. ill try and talk to you soon. maybe in like and hour. how would that be.

Monday, July 12, 2010

go listen to the new ridiculously awesome White Panda mix tape while you think about all the things I could possibly write about on here.

:0!

Monday, May 24, 2010

I havent updated this is absolutely forever. you get in that grind where you dont post something and you think that the next thing has to be good enough to make up for that huge gap.

well this kid right here makes up that gap. talk about inspiration.

I urge you to go read the article on cnn about him.

DEFINITELY READ THIS!

and another thing. this random song just came on a supertram album! wow. this original has 28k. gym class heros has 28 MILLION!

boil the water its not safe to drink!

so theres a wealth of things I need to post on this. im using a friends computer because I have havnt had to much time on mine and I think about these things all the time. To start with May 18th is going to be an amazing day. lcd soundsystem. the black keys. amylee jones. all gonna be super amazing that day.

Im gonna jump right into it with 3 things you need to watch literally five minutes ago starting now.

Im not even gonna talk about them you jsut need to watch them.

M.I.A, Born Free from ROMAIN-GAVRAS on Vimeo.

i cant deal with a slow internet right now. make these my gift to you. and hope that i will bring more soon.

Saturday, April 17, 2010

i played poker for 4 hours and broke even.

what do you think that says.

So many things I could possibly post on this. I literally have to stop this train of thought to get the new lcd soundsystem song.i can change. wow james. you have created a marvelous piece of work. you should listen to it. all of it actually. STREAMING THIS HAPPENING

wait for it in the first song. seriously. give yourself a minute and listen to how beautiful he pumps it up a few minutes in. wow. like. wow man. you are the reason I want to go to bonaroo. no. the reason i.will.go. to bonnaroo this year.

Then i want you to reminisce about sherwood forest. not the men in tights crap. were talking about the fox one. you know. whistle that tune. youll remember it. all of it is in your mind.

then an amazing documentary about street graffiti. but were not talking about small time stuff. were talking about banksy. the man no one knows about. not only caught on tape but interviewed and humanized. this is ridiculous. i was told about this by one of the many great people i hung out with tonight and this might be one the best parts about the night. this film looks top notch and absolutely phenomenal. and to top it off it opens in boston the 23. thats 3 days after the marathon. i already have tickets for nerd on friday otherwise I would completely be there for that premier. saturday would be great to free up though...

then just one more thing. sts9 tickets for august 14th in boston went on sale today. a little far in advance for me and i might be away that weekend but that will be great. when i looked for a way to put it on here i found a video that uses one of their songs as the backdrop to a circus. so if your gonna listen to it you might as well see some cool stuff right!?!

slante! 2 more nights babay!

Monday, April 12, 2010

Im doin it.

I went to see Drake at Northeastern's spring concert this weekend and he was pretty great.

the endeering aspect of the show was how much I like this song. check it out. i cant believe this man hasn't put out an album. unreal. i guess i expect nothing less from wheezy's protege.

a complete unknown:

A true all-nighter for my history thesis has given me quite an adventure. bob dylan and relatively unknown songs to me have been my musical vice all night and now when the temptation to take a quick snooz is at its strongest Jimmi singing Bob at Montery in 1967 is recharging my battery and helping me get through these next 2 hours which are going to fly by and be over before I know it.

so if your lucky enough to read this in the morning then I hope your day turns out as great as mine is looking like it might! this is a great quality video....check out his facial expressions and how much he gives to each line of the song..

Henry Anslinger

I know Ive mentioned 22tracks.com before. but really. check that out.

then in the beats section listen to Take, by Neon Beams off the album Only Mountain...

super cool.

as a readjustment bassnectar is playing in boston in 2 weeks. the same day as a big suprise party for someone. really annoying. im seeing n.e.r.d. and super mash brothers the day after but i still want to splurge.

we shall see.

Monday, April 5, 2010

Today I heard a song that absolutely made me feel warm inside.

bassnectar, base head (original mix)

a dubstep song but really really awesome. I read an article about it and the amount of dub step lingo I re ad about was amazing. oscilattor modulators wobbling the bass synth hook lines is probably what made this one so awesome.

( i really need to find a way to host the song on here)

check it ou. I would add although I feel quite obvious saying this would be wild to listen to with some great headphones...

what did you do on your sweet 16...

So I have been hearing alot about Wale and K'Naan lately. My cousin was actually invited to a sweet 16 party this past friday at a local bar. Toads Place in new haven. pretty wild sweet 16 if you ask me. apparently the girls dad was a big time something at toads place and they rented out a private room (the lilly pad) somewhere or something. I didn't think much about this but then later on in the night I found out it was Wale and K'Naan. WhaT?! for a sweet 16. that woulda been a great life experience for sure. these guys are definitely gonna be huge in the relatively near future. unless you classify them in that category already.

I thought maybe he was a gem but appearently this video has 5 million views on youtube because it is the official song of the 2010 World Cup. if that doesnt get your name out there then somethings upside down.

check both them out. wavin the flag is that one and the second one is called "tv in the radio" check them both out.

and wale ft. k'Naan

and for the record. im not one to brag. but i ran 21.19 damn miles today. bring on the boston marathon right now baby. bring. it. the. hell. on.

rip jim marshall

I read this on rollingstone today that esteemed music photographer Jim Marshall passed away on the 26th of March. You may have heard of him. if you havent heard his name mentioned before then you have undoubtedly seen some of his images and you 100% will recognize the subjects. I found a few cool ones on here to show you in case you havent. take note of the innocence in their faces....

one upon a time...

So i'm about to do my best resume making to get a super stellar paid internship over the summer and I got side tracked listening to this cudder song. Its not like youve never heard soundtrack 2 my lyfe but probably not with a music video as cool as this. Such a rad dude. Got me thinking what might be the soundtrack to my life. ohh yeah. you heard me. try and get deep and philisophical on meright now. just watch that video and you can see how happy the dude is (yes, making people happy and getting paid, and having fun for for a living is pretty sweet...i get that) just think about it. instead of reading a bunch of other peoples thoughts on the internet think about yourself this time.

with that being said check out mr. shaker heights himself.

they like to steal from the cupboard...

just so fitting that I stumbled upon the new LCD Soundsystem track today. Drunk Girls. definetly a classic james murphy track, I can only imagine the hipsters in williamsport getting their skinny jeans moving to this one. I can see myself listening to this one quite often. Alot of people like it when artists change style album to album but I hope the entire thing is just like this track. great.

april 5th, update on this one. I saw that he was playing at Terminal 5 in NYC and thought it would be cool to go. well I need to think its $100++ each if I desire it so.....rough....

you came in with the breeze...

that was a bangah. but pin the L on the wheezy turned into gang tag all over my rasterbated wheezy and wall. ok. theres empty 40's everywhere and a portrait of someone drawn on the beirut list on the wall. sure. the radio was like a club last night. fantastically great success.

on sunday morning.

happy birthday michael.

clap your hands everybody...cl-cl-cl-clap your hands eerrrbody.

You know when your in such a great mood that nothing seems to get in your way. everything's just going perfectly right for you. you get free food, people give you free stuff, they help you figure out what your doing after you graduate, they let you know what your gonna do over the summer for a job, they tell you you can eat free unos for dinner, they tell you that gift card you found still has the full amount on it so you can buy a cool book you probably wouldnt have bought otherwise. The kind of mood where you jsut want to put on loo and placido and listen to them and bounce and not stop smiling. the kind of mood where your friend leaves their headphones in their jacket next to you so that you can sit in the library and blow your ears out. the kind where even girl talk live only starts to explain your level of excitement. The forward thinking of all the aweosme things your going to accomplish the next day and how prepared your going to be for your awesome party over the weekend and everything that goes with it. listening to electronic popstar killers never gets old and this is the feeling i will always relate to it. how great I feel today. right now. id love to string this out.

hell. yeah.

Ahhhhhh Savenia'

While I should be reading a 400 page plus epic about slavery right now I seem to be distraced by two songs. One that I heard yesterday was really intrigueing to me because I do not nnecesarilly listen to NAS that much at all. He appearently is making an album with Damian Marley and if the first song is anything to judge the album off of it is going to be quite fantastic. to say the least. Orignally heard it on earmilk so ill give them the credit but the youtube does the job too.

very very very cool.

And since I obviously can't pass up a fun mashup i heard a lil wayne/mufaso jam to start my mornging. you heard me. the lion king and the rap king. credit.

alot of people talking smack about the song not being a quality mashup but its definetly a fun listen and i dont think thats arguable. Brings up an interesting point about hypem though and how people go about finding songs and the importance of a heart and of "liking" songs.

(is that over your head... sorry....check out hypem and try and mess around on the site. youll understand when you see how alot of the same or similar songs are evelated to the top of the favorites because people who might not appreciate "good" music simply like the gimmicky stuff or the mashup/wheezy/cudder fans and their abundance)

roll genovese roll.

mgmt 's new stuff.

I havent had to much of a chance to post alot of stuff lately but hopefully Ill get back in the groove of it. Im heading over to put in some library time and see if I cant get some important stuff done since I was up so early.

Last night mgmt played a secret show in New York and they tried out some of there new songs. of course pitchfork had it on their site so thats where I saw it.

st. patricks day in less then 24 hours. you ready. last year at this time i was already celebrating with Felix Da Housecat....great time with arno and jamie and the bordeaux girls.

and bang. there went 15 minutes lost to the world wide web with nothing to show for it.

katharina inspired me in Ireland to sign up but i've never used it until right now. like literally. right now. its like a new facebook of sorts. but instead of meeting people and creeping on their life and reading their status you actually meet up with people and have human to human conversation and interaction. its a new phenomena.

55 more days.

I read about a guy who built his own house and for the last year the bank has been trying to foreclose on it. They were finally successfully able to foreclose on his land. When he realized he lost the guy took a bulldozer to his house. Now theres a large pile of rubble on what will soon be the banks land that they hope to sell for more than the man would have been able to pay.
stick it to them man. that must have been incredibly rewarding and immediately depressing when you pressed that accelerator.

from here.

a new solo dolo track today was pretty dope. starred none other than mr. s-n double oh p. definelty cool. did someone tell me that snoopy gave up chronic too? interesting...hard to believe....

you can hear the track on above the fold's blog

switiching genres i need to just vent about my stupididty about not buying miike snow tickets for when he comes to boston. i knew it was going to happen. i really wanted to go. i ride by the place every day. i have money. it makes total sense why I wouldnt already have a ticket. im pretty disappointed in myself. to say the least. i still really wanna go to this show so we shall see.

something new (to me) from the weekend. (bon iver ringtone i heard a few times) ^!&

So going with the theme of a huge post before I leave I spent a bunch of money on photography stuff today. one of those things you dont mind spending money on. One of my goals for this semester is to present my work on the art floor. I really. really. really. want to do this. I havent really told that many people that idea yet but i dont really care what it takes, I really want it. one of my ideas is something that has to do with a double exposure. something in the realm of this.

(artist from the blog it was found on..click the picture)
gives me an idea.

and im sorry to so abrubtly end this but its time for a nice walk to coolidge corner. i have a ton more to say but i played tetris for too long to let you read it.

the security guard just came and told me i could leave now. its 2 o clock. thanks man. i wasnt aware I could leave.

pizza hut and taco bell

So this together music festival is going on in Boston right now and its really a fantastic exhibition. Super awesome. Basically a huge collection of electronic musicians all together just doing there thing. I went to the middlesex launge last night and saw udachi, hearthrob, and ac slater. phenomenal. Watching them do theirr thing live was really incredible. the sound totally overtook you and it felt so good to hear such strong bass.

Today when I was just looking around online i snagged my roomates headphones that he found cleaning at his work. pretty awesome. I dindt think much of them but then I put them in my ears and was totally blown away. It completely changes the entire dynamic of listening to music when you put these things in your ear.

Im gonna get out of here right now.

how you doooo dat?!

im aware ive been lazy for a few days. i hitchhiked home yesterday from the boston train station and although i talked about how I had no money and I was extremely grateful to this new york/ jamaican dreadlocked dude who ddint go to his brother wedding because it was "all the way in new haven" he still tried to take my wallet from me. not one of my best thumbs up stories but o well. I definitely didnt feel unsafe just disrespected. o well.

i found somethign pretty cool on stumble upon. and by me i mean allie and by stumble upon i mean her facebook status.

telepathic search engine and grammyity grams.

Today was a great lazy sunday. made some omelets for breakfast amongst the piles of pbr tallboys, solo cups and personalized bottles of champagne we watched some on demand action. wathced ourselves some 24 with j.r then decided to go for a little bit of yogging around the resevoir.

the grammys were definetly a spectacle. lady gaga and elton john is definetly something pretty cool. another affirmation that everyone and their mother loves lady gaga wheter they admit it or not. seriously. I think even my grandma asked me about here over christmas. its a phenomena. load of boloney she didnt win album of the year.

black eyed peas were great. summertime stereo staple for me this past year.

eminem wheezy drake and travis parker definetly killed it. ridiculous that the only way they could censor it was a moment of silence. cmon. your kidding me right. legit like 30 seconds of the performance dedicated to silence. You have entire democrgaphics of people watching the show and seeing this for the first time and that is the impression you give them. thats a great song destroyed by crappy post editing... pooey.

edit : clearly other people realized how pointless the editing was so you can watch a foreign telecast without the silence hurr.

I was actually rewatching them right now and I had a question about mr. Z and rihanna and the mystery child with them. So i asked my roomate and his girlfriend nad neither of them had an answer. To right this sitution I went on google and it read my mind. literally. the reason google will rule the world. All i had to do was ask hit who was before it provided me with my question.

i also learned how to do a screen shot so i can show the power of the goog.

miike, an unlikely combination, and a seven hour shift it a plastic chair playing tetris.

So depending on if anyone actually cares or not today Live Nation and Ticketmaster were finally given permission to unite and combine forces.
Even though there is supposedly a ton of regulations and there are safeguards in place this still seems ridiculous to me. There are no other ticket sellers out there. and both of these two monsters have been leading us into a false sense of security with some of their deals in the last year but surely those are going to be gone now that they control the market. Ridiculous.

The live music industry was the biggest moneymaker for artists and now its going to be controled by LiveNation...whom i despise for the simple fact that they themselves own a ticket reselling company. (i.e. ticketmaster sells out--> lets redirect you to our brokerage web sites that suprisingly has tickets for sale to the event that went on sale ten minutes ago and sold out 3 minutes ago. Looks like some buyers must have changed there plans so very quickly!

clickage occurs here.

bologna. here and there making a few bucks on a ticket you yourself would go to is one thing. this is a whole other something.

to get your mind off of that check out some of that bono, edge, hova, rihanna video from the haiti benefit concert. pretty awesome so i must say. (although justin timberlake doing hte hallelujah song was pretty great too....)

and to check out somethign a little unique im into right now check out this miike snow page with some stuff on it. Hes playing the middle east in a month or two and i think id like to go. I especially like his crookers remix but his other stuff is great too.

I would like to learn how to host my own on here and have ads on the side and have my site come up on Hypem sometime as finding some cool stuff.

just a thought. i found I can change my name pretty easy on here too. Ill have to see how to change it to something fantastic.

this is pretty much the most important things I had on my computer beside my pictures.

i think ive seen this idea before.....

So i saw this video of a band Matt and Kim from brookyln the other day. I guess they are pretty big but I had never heard of them let alone seen their music video. its a pretty cool music video ill definetly give them that. lesson learned is pretty obvious maybe? but something seemed familiar when I watched their video...

But when I saw this video it reminded me very much of something two of my roomates showed me when I was in Ireland. Its by a Parisian techno group. Basically its matt and kim with better looking people walking much longer without the french saying anything. i think it might be a better song too....thats up to you....they filmed it on the rue Montorgueil in paris which is pretty awesome. cool concept.
